EDWIN J. HANSEN
DISTRICT MANAGER, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Mr. Hansen has served the District in various
capacities for more than three decades. He continues
to develop new and cutting edge technologies in his
|
industry. In 1999, the Board unanimously appointed
him for his current role.
Mr. Hansen establishes standards of operations,
plans and creates programs related to the needs and
enrichment of the District, acts as negotiator on
behalf of and in tandem with the Board to achieve
District goals and works to ensure optimal water
quality and service to District customers.
Throughout his highly successful tenure, he has been
able to expand the wastewater reclamation facility
to include new state-of-the-art processing and
treatment equipment and infrastructure, upsize the
wastewater collection system, and secure adequate
water resources for both culinary and secondary
irrigation.
Mr. Hansen′s focus is two fold: customer
satisfaction and safe drinking water. He is able to
achieve this through technology, innovation and cost
conscious methods. During the last five years, Mr.
Hansen and his team of engineers and chemists have
been developing a water treatment method to remove
and destroy naturally occurring and non-naturally
occurring contaminants through a biodestruction
process. This process is environmentally responsible
and rivals current technology. Pilot testing has
shown remarkably definitive results within a
controlled environment. Mr. Hansen′s pioneering has
the potential to set a new standard for water
treatment worldwide. Future plans include building a
storm water park for schools to use as an outdoor
learning center for tertiary treatment, hydrology
and water conservation.
Mr. Hansen served as a Specialist Grade in the
United States Army 306 Aviation division and
received an honorable discharge He holds a level
four certification in water and wastewater. He is
the Vice President of the Magna Chamber of Commerce
and Secretary of the Utah Ethnic and Mining Museum.
Mr. Hansen′s "down time" consists of directing the
2005 Magna Fourth of July festivities, planning for
the annual Magna Christmas parade, and working with
other charitable and non-profit entities. Under his
management, the District has received several awards
for outstanding operations and collections, and
outstanding water production and distribution from
the Water Environment Federation and Rural Water
Association.
